What are Business assets in Facebook Business Manager?

Table of Contents

Business assets are the collection of Facebook business accounts, ad accounts, and other components of Facebook. Facebook Business Manager is like a hub, where one can manage all the assets within the Facebook Account and Meta network, like Facebook Pages, Instagram Accounts, Ad Accounts, Facebook Pixels, etc. As a Business Admin, you can create business assets in Facebook Business Manager as well as add assets that have been shared with you and organize these assets as per your requirements. Once the business asset group is created, the business admin can assign permission to designated people or team members to manage certain assets, but cannot grant permissions at the business asset group level as permissions are assigned for the assets individually. The goal of bringing all the Facebook Assets into the Business Manager is to manage all the assets in one place and to disperse permission to employees, partners, contractors, etc.

The asset types in the Facebook Business Manager are as follows:

  • Ad Accounts
  • Facebook Pages
  • Instagram account
  • Apps
  • Pixel
  • Offline events
  • Custom Conversions
  • Catalogs

1: Ad Accounts

When adding an Ad Account to the Business Manager, you come across three options. The first option is to add an existing ad account that you own. The second option is to request access to an ad account that you need to manage and the third option is to create a new ad account. In the case of the first option, you need to enter the ad account ID and then your existing ad account would be added to the business manager. When you add an ad account to your business manager, it is permanent. If you request access to an ad account, that is not permanent and you can always remove it from the Business Manager. Adding Ad Accounts to Facebook Business Manager allows you to keep things organized whether it is managing the ad assets or managing the user permissions to these ad assets.

Note: In the case, you have just begun to run ads on the platform, Facebook will restrict you from creating more than one Ad Account, on a temporary basis. Once you have run multiple ad campaigns successfully using one Ad Account, Facebook will start allowing you to create more ad accounts subsequently.

2: Facebook Pages

Adding Facebook Pages to Business Manager allows you to track the performance and metrics of each page like clicks, actions, reach of the posts, all in one place.  Likewise in the case of adding an ad account, you have three options to add a Facebook page. The first option is to add in all your existing pages that your business already owns. The second option is to request access to a page in the event wherein you need to perform work on behalf of somebody else’s company. The third option is to create a new page. In order to add in existing pages, you need to either enter the Page name or URL, and it will bring it into your Business Manager.

Setting up a Facebook Pixel in the business manager is very important and you only need one pixel per business.

6: Offline events

Offline Events allows you to measure how Facebook ads can lead to offline conversions like in-store purchases, orders, and bookings on the phone, foot traffic, sales in the location, and more. You can add the Offline Event asset to the Business Manager by connecting the data sources i.e., uploading customer activity from your server to optimize ads.

7: Custom Conversions

Custom Conversion is a method to define a conversion event for tracking the ad campaigns. Adding a Custom Conversion asset to your Business Manager allows you to measure the actions of the customers and optimize the ad delivery and reach. Advertisers can create and set up rules for conversion events or URLs. which makes it easier for tracking and optimize the ads. Installing a Facebook Pixel onto the website is necessary in order to track custom conversions.

One way is to request access to a catalog or the other is to create a new Catalog altogether.
